Welcome to the second part of our training for Microsoft Office Outlook. Microsoft’s powerful and easy-to-use personal information management program.

 

This course is intended for all persons who need to enhance, edit and organise electronic messages using a Graphical User Interface (GUI)-based messaging application.

 

By the end of this course, users should be comfortable with managing E-mail messages, use the address book facilities of outlook and configuring advanced message options.

  • Course Prerequisites

    It is assumed that the learner:

     

    • Has completed the Outlook essential course or is competent in using electronic mail to send and receive messages (ID 116945 - NQF level 2)
    • Understands the basics of using a Windows-based computer.
    • Is comfortable using the keyboard, mouse, and Start menu.
    • Is competent in using generic functions in a Graphical User Interface (GUI)-environment (ID 117902 - NQF level 1).

In Class or Virtual Class Based Learning

A technology mediated delivery method allowing campus based class or virtual class attendance, or a combination of both. Classes can be in the form of lecture based or mentored based.

A technology mediated, self paced online delivery method with personal mentorship.

What you get

On completion the learner will earn:

  • Certificate of Competency from MICT SETA upon successful completion of the PoE process (moderated and found competent) for clients who specifically selected & paid for the accredited option.

 

Note: All certificates are electronically issued.

Important Notes

  • Learners to arrive at the training venue from 08:00 in preparation for 08:30 starting time
  • Bookings are only confirmed upon receipt of the proof of payment or an official company purchase order.
  • For full day, on campus courses, Learnfast will supply you with a computer to use for training (if applicable),& tea/coffee and a full lunch. Catering is not included for On-Site training and laptops are available for hire at an additional cost if required.
  • Cancellation or rescheduling requests must be in writing and reach us via email at least 5-10 working days prior to the course commencement date. Full course fees will be retained for no shows.
  • Virtual learners are required to have a stable internet connection & a working headset available for sound purposes.
  • Learners who use their own laptops are fully responsible to ensure that administration rights, software installations, etc. are working sufficiently prior to training.
  • Learnfast reserves the right to cancel or postpone dates if we require to do so and undertake to inform clients in writing and telephonically of these changes.
  • Learnfast is not responsible for costs associated with cancellation of classes such as flight and accommodation for clients.
 

Module 1: The legal, ethical and organisational issues in relation to the use of E-mail

After completing this module, the learner will be able to explain legal, ethical and organisational issues in relation to the use of Email.

 

  • Explain the implications of legislation on the use of email in an organisation in terms of transmission of information via the Internet
  • Explain the implications to an organisation of providing Email facilities to individuals in the workplace in terms of security, and virus protection
  • Describe security considerations of using the Internet for transmitting messages in terms of both security and its implications to the immediate environment

 


Module 2: Configure advanced message options

Outlook supports many different characters and objects that can be inserted into any message that you send. Over the course of this topic, you will learn about the various characters and objects that are supported by Outlook, as well as how to add them to any message that you compose.

Module 3: Managing your Messages

Over the course of this topic, you will learn about the various features in Outlook that you can use to manage messages.

Module 4: Managing your Contacts

As the core functionality of Outlook 2016 revolves around communication and interaction with other people, saving and managing contact information is very important. Over the course of this topic you will learn all about contacts in Outlook.

Module 5: Working with Tasks and Notes

Outlook not only provides a central place to keep your messages, calendar, and contacts organized; it also gives you the ability to schedule and manage tasks. Over the course of this topic, you will learn all about tasks and how to create them.
