The purpose of this programme is to introduce junior manager to the preparation and procedures required in conducting a structured meeting to ensure that objectives are achieved.

The benefit of this unit standard is that the learner, on completion of this programme, will be able to arrange and conduct a structured meeting, which will benefit the participants as well as the company.

In Class or Virtual Class Based Learning

A technology mediated delivery method allowing campus based class or virtual class attendance, or a combination of both. Classes can be in the form of lecture based or mentored based.

 

Mentored Online Learning

A technology mediated, self paced online delivery method with personal mentorship.

Important Notes

  • Students are to be at the training venue by 08h00 in preparation for a 08h30 start time.
  • Learnfast retains the right to change this calendar without any notification.
  • Bookings are only confirmed upon receipt of the proof of payment or an official company purchase order for the full amount of the training.
  • For full day courses Learnfast will supply you with the relevant training material. A desktop computer to use for the training (where applicable), tea/coffee and a full lunch for full day InClass training hosted at Learnfast only. Catering is not included for OnSite training and laptop is available for hire at an additional cost if required.
  • Cancellation or rescheduling requests must be in writing and reach us via fax or email at least 5 (five) working days prior to the course commencement date. Full course fees may be retained for no shows or requests within 5 working days prior to commencement.
  • Although we go to great lengths to ensure that all training proceeds as scheduled, Learnfast reserves the right to cancel or postpone dates if we require to do so and undertake to inform clients in writing and telephonically of these changes.
  • Learnfast suggests clients wait until a week prior to course commencement that a course has been confirmed to go ahead as scheduled before booking flight and accommodation. Learnfast is NOT responsible for cost associated with cancellation of classes such as flight and accommodation for clients.
 

Module 1: Prepare for a Meeting

  • Identify the physical arrangements and attendees required for a meeting and prepare a checklist and action it in terms of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Explain the purpose of an agenda, the expected outcomes of the meeting, the process of placing items on the agenda and the roles of participants in terms of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Explain the purpose of recording a meeting according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Check the documents required for a meeting for accuracy and completeness and distribute it according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Check the minutes of the previous meeting a for accuracy and completeness.

Module 2: Conduct a meeting

  • Conduct a meeting according to a pre-planned agenda, and/or Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Create opportunities to allow effective participation by people attending the meeting.
  • Summarise discussions and record it to indicate proposed action, completion date and person responsible.

Module 3: Demonstrate techniques to deal with differing views during a meeting

  • Identify techniques to overcome potential lack of progress due to differing opinions during the meeting according to recognised theory and practice.
  • Use a technique to create progress in a meeting according to recognised theory and practice.

Module 4: Distribute records for a meeting

  • Compile records in such a way to enable the decisions of a meeting to be implemented
  • Check records to ensure that they are an accurate reflection, prior to distribution
  • Review the meeting and make suggestions for improvement to enhance the effectiveness of future meetings

  3. The CAD Corporation retains the rights to change this calendar without any notification.
  4. Tea/coffee and a light lunch will be provided.
  5. All university students will receive a 10% discount for cash payments.
  6. The minimum notice of cancellation is 5 (five) working days prior to the course commencement date. If you fail to do so the full amount is payable.
