Overview

Welcome to the Communicate in ETDP Settings programme.

This learning programme is intended for all persons who need to demonstrate understanding of the outcomes-based education and training approach within the context of a National Qualifications Framework. The purpose of this Unit Standard is to develop underpinning knowledge and understanding that will inform actions and decisions with regard to implementation of OBET and the NQF.

This Unit Standard is for those involved in education, training and development, skills and people development. Competence at this level will enable learners to present and participate effectively in oral communication in various contexts. Learners at this level have a fundamental knowledge base of the purposes and the context for communication as well as of target audiences.

Admission Requirements

Learners should have the following:

<ul>
	<li>Competent in Communications at NQF level 3 or equivalent experience and are able to use basic data gathering methods.</li>
	<li>Competent at NQF level 4 to write texts for a range of communicative contexts.</li>
	<li>Competent in general analysis and design techniques, and have a working knowledge of outcome-based education and training. It is also assumed that learners are able to develop learning materials based on a given design.</li>
	<li>Have achieved unit standard NLRD 115753: Conduct outcomes-based assessment, or equivalent.</li>
	<li>Competent in the relevant field in which Practitioners are designing assessments, or have access to subject matter experts.</li>
	<li>Ability to analyse and interpret the relevant outcomes (or standards).</li>
	<li>Possess a working knowledge of outcome-based education and training.</li>
</ul>

	<div>Learners to arrive at the training venue from 08:00 in preparation for 08:30 starting time</div>

	<li>Describe the impact of OBET in terms of potential benefits to learners, employers, industry and society at large </li>
	<li>Describe the challenges associated with the implementation of OBET in terms of cost, manageability and the potential impact on learning organisations </li>

Module 2: Describe the National Qualifications Framework (NQF)

	<li>Describe the history, rationale, objectives, principles and aims of the NQF. </li>
	<li>Ensure that descriptions are consistent with the body of literature on the subject, and reveal a grasp of the development of the NQF Describe the mechanisms of the NQF. </li>
	<li>Ensure that descriptions are consistent with SAQA definitions and reveal an understanding of the purposes of the various mechanisms </li>
	<li>Describe NQF-related structures in terms of their composition, function and relationships in line with current published definitions </li>
	<li>Describe processes and requirements for participation in the structures in line with current published definitions.</li>
	<li>Ensure that descriptions reveal the impact of participation and/or non-participation on learners, learning organisations, and companies </li>
